What is DMARC?

DMARC builds on SPF and DKIM to give domain owners control over how unauthenticated messages are handled by receiving mail servers.

A DMARC record is published as a DNS TXT record at _dmarc.yourdomain.com and specifies the policy (none, quarantine, or reject) plus reporting destinations.

Common DMARC Tags
  • p= Policy: none, quarantine, or reject
  • rua= Aggregate report destination (mailto:)
  • ruf= Forensic report destination (mailto:)
  • adkim= DKIM alignment mode (r or s)
  • aspf= SPF alignment mode (r or s)
